Born on August 2nd, 1957 in Senglea, Malta, Domenic has been involved in the photojournalism sphere since his early twenties.
Official Malta football writer / photojournalist correspondent to www.uefa.com – the official site of the Union of European Football Associations, and a regular photographic contributor to UEFA various publications.
Aquilina’s association with UEFA spans a long number of years. Specialising in photo reportage, the Maltese photographer has covered eleven UEFA Champions League finals, plus numerous UEFA Champions League matches and other UEFA official matches. The Moscow International Foto Awards 2016 international jury has awarded Domenic Aquilina from Malta with 1st Place and the winner in the “Editorial – Sports” Professional Category with his work “Heads I win!”
The capture, which can be seen on the right, depicts Edin Džeko of AS Roma (right) and Pepe of Real Madrid CF (left) captured in a heading duel during the UEFA Champions League 2015/16 round of 16 second leg match between Real Madrid CF and AS Roma at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, Spain.The winning entry by the Maltese photographer was chosen from entries from 85 countries worldwide.
The winning images in all categories will be exhibited at the Na Kaskhirke Gallery in Moscow – http://www.nakashirke.com/ from July 13th until the 7th August, 2016.
